Overview
Country Club of the South is a guard-gated golf community in Johns Creek, north of Atlanta, built around a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. It's known for large estate homes, a private club and the kind of controlled entry that appeals to high-profile families.
The tradeoff is the drive: downtown venues and the airport are a significant commute, so it fits best when the household prioritizes security and space, or when the facility is in the northern suburbs.
Gated access & security
Entry is controlled through a staffed gate. Ask for current staffing hours, guest and vendor procedures, and any patrol arrangements.
For crime statistics, rely on official sources: search any address on the LexisNexis Community Crime Map ↗, or check with the local police department or sheriff's office.
Privacy
Large lots, wooded buffers and limited through-traffic give strong privacy on most streets. Homes on the course have more rear exposure.
Homes
Large custom estates, many with basements, guest quarters and space for a home gym or sports court.
Lifestyle
Golf, tennis and club life, with Johns Creek and Alpharetta dining and shopping nearby, including Avalon. Lake Lanier is within reach for boating.
Flood & insurance
Most homes are outside FEMA high-risk zones, but lots near creeks or the Chattahoochee can differ. Check each address on the map.
